NSERC CREATE Program on Offshore Technology Research - Seminar Series continues on Monday, Oct. 31.
The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland will host a new presentation of the NSERC CREATE Program on Offshore Technology Research - Seminar Series on Monday, Oct. 31.
The theme for the Oct. 31 event is Innovations in Design Selection, Engineering and Construction of Floating Offshore Production Systems. The guest lecturer is Dr. John Murray, director of Technology development, FloaTEC and an alumnus of Memorial University.
Dr. Murray has more than 27 years of experience in the offshore industry, developing designs for deepwater and arctic regions. He began his career with the National Research Council Canada, Institute for Marine Dynamics, in 1984, where he eventually led the Ocean Engineering Program.
Since 2006 he has served as Director of Technology Development with FloaTEC, LLC, Houston, a joint venture company between McDermott International and Keppel FELS. He holds a PhD in Ocean Engineering from Memorial University, has co-authored more than 100 technical papers in journals and conference proceedings and holds a number of patents.
The presentation is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Junior Common Room, Gushue Hall, at Memorial University. Space is limited and those interested in attending are asked to RSVP lsnelgrove@mun.ca.
