Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science held an open house as part of Meet Memorial 2009

The faculty's dean, Dr. John Quaicoe, welcomes visitors to the faculty's open house

From posters to robots, simulators and wave tanks, the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science kept visitors active and busy at the faculty’s open house as part of Meet Memorial 2009.

On Wednesday, July 15, 2009 visitors to the S.J. Carew Building were welcomed by the faculty’s dean, Dr. John Quaicoe, and other staff members. The main foyer was decorated with posters from many of the faculty’s research professors, as well as a robot demonstration. Visitors who signed up for a tour of the laboratories experienced a marine simulator, a 14-foot wide by 9-foot deep by 170-foot long wave tank, broke a 2-foot by 2-foot beam in the structures lab, and learned how a rapid prototyping machine makes prototypes out of paper! And, before they left, they were given one final treat – popsicles!

The open house was a huge success. Thanks to all the volunteers and organizers who helped make it a tour to remember:
