I am a registered professional engineer in Ontario,
and currently working as an assistant professor in the Faculty of
Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of
Newfoundland. I earned B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in civil engineering
from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. I joined Ryerson
University in 2001 where I finished my MASc and PhD in civil
engineering, in 2003 and 2008 respectively. During my graduate
studies, I won the Ryerson Excellence Award, NSERC and OSG awards,
and an award for best PhD thesis. In 2005, I began teaching
undergraduate courses in the Department of Civil Engineering at
Ryerson University, and in 2008 I continued my research in Ryerson
as a postdoctoral fellow.
My research activities and publications deal with the rheological,
mechanical and durability properties of self consolidating concrete
(SCC), highlighting the areas of shear, bond, and corrosion of the
reinforcing bars in concrete.
