P.Eng.
I obtained B. Tech. and M. Tech. in Electrical Engineering
from Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T), Madras and Bombay, India
respectively. I received my PhD degree from the University of New
Brunswick, Fredericton.
Prior to joining Memorial University, I was a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering, I.I.T Bombay. I was one of the first recipients of the 'Young Scientist' award by the Government of India. Under this award I spent six months as a visiting scholar at the University of Washington, Seattle.
My teaching activities focus on the area of numerical analysis, electrical machines and power systems. I am supervising a number of graduate students with support from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada. I am also a registered professional engineer in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. My research interests include power system transient stability, voltage stability analysis, and intelligent system applications to power systems.
