Professor
NSERC/Petro-Canada Chair for Women in Science and Engineering

B.Sc. (honours, Memorial), M.A.Sc., PhD (Waterloo)

I have been with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science since 1990, where I am now a professor of electrical and computer engineering. I was educated at Memorial University of Newfoundland (B.Sc.Honours, Mathematics) and at the University of Waterloo (M.A.Sc. and PhD, Systems Design Engineering).

In addition to my years as a faculty member at Memorial University, I worked for three years with Bell-Northern Research in Ottawa, and for two years with INRS-Telecommunications of the University of Quebec in Verdun. I teach mainly in the areas of systems and signals, and signal processing. My research is motivated by an interest in using nonlinear computational methods effectively for applications in digital image processing.
