HYDROMETALLURGY . PROCESS ENGINEERING
Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commencing January 1, 2006 or earliest thereafter, in the area of hydrometallurgy. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level, to supervise graduate students, to participate in other educational, scholarly and professional activities, to liaise with industry, and to develop a research capability in hydrometallurgy working in conjunction with other researchers in the INCO Innovation Centre at Memorial University. The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science is developing a new undergraduate program in process engineering, and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to this initiative. Applicants should have an earned PhD degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or a cognate area. The applicant must have industrial and/or research experience in unit operations and processes including leaching, electrowinning and refining, separation by ion-exchange and solvent extraction, and electrolysis, The successful candidate will work in a collaborative team environment with a research focus on process simulation, modeling and control. He/she will be expected to register as a P.Eng. with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEG-NL).
The Faculty offers accredited undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineering following a fully integrated cooperative education model. Offshore Oil & Gas Engineering options are offered as a part of every engineering undergraduate program. Thesis-based and course based master's programs, as well as doctoral programs are offered in the various engineering disciplines.
