I am a chemical engineer at Memorial University. I earned a
B.Sc. in chemical engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, a
masters in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of
Technology, Roorkee, India and a PhD in environmental engineering
from Pondicherry University, specializing in computer-aided process
plant design and computer-aided risk assessment. I am a member of
Process Safety Management Group (NA), Canadian Society for Chemical
Engineering, the Indian Institution of Chemical Engineers and the
Institution of Public Health Engineering.
Prior to joining Memorial University I served as a scientist at the Centre for Pollution Control & Energy Technology in Pondicherry, India for four years and assistant professor at Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India for two years.
I was among four Leading Young Scientists of Year 2000, short-listed by the Indian National Science Academy, India. I have also authored four books and more than 100 internationally-referred research papers. My research interests include safety and risk engineering, environmental risk modeling, life cycle analysis, computer aided process plant design and inherent safety.
