I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electronics and
communications engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt
in 1990 and 1994, respectively. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in
electrical engineering in 2001 from Carleton University, Ottawa,
where I worked from 2001 to 2003 as a senior research
associate.
In 2003, I joined the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science,
Memorial University of Newfoundland where I currently work as an
Associate Professor. My research interests include radio resource
management in wireless networks, cooperative communications, MIMO
wireless systems, multihop and relaying networks and wireless
sensor networks.
I won the Ontario Graduate Scholarship for Science and Technology
in 1997 and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship in 1998, 1999, and
2000. I am a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the
province of Newfoundland, Canada and a senior member of
IEEE.
