Weimin Huang

Assistant Professor

B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Wuhan), M.Eng. (Memorial)

I received my B.Sc., M.Sc. in radio physics and a PhD in space physics from the School of Electronic Information at Wuhan University in 1995, 1997, and 2001, respectively. I also completed an M.Eng. and a post doctoral fellowship in electrical and computer engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2004 and 2007, respectively.

After spending one year on the RAVEN (Remote Aerial Vehicle for Environmental Monitoring) project as a major research partner at Memorial, I left in 2008 to join Rutter Technologies as a design and research engineer. In April 2010, I re-joined Memorial's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science as an assistant professor.

My past and present research focuses on the mapping of oceanic surface parameters via high frequency ground-wave radar and, more recently, ocean surface target detection and tracking and wave and current information extraction from ocean clutter using microwave marine navigation radar. My teaching involves engineering mathematics and electrical engineering courses. I was a member of the American Geophysical Union, and I am presently a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
