kumbhaabhiShEkaM!

The Hindu Temple structure is being completed with the addition of the long planned 'Sikhara' involving two gOpuraMs. One of them is a dome shaped structure right above the havan area of the main hall. Another is a spire right above the main altar. With this, the Temple height increases by another 26 feet. The towers are fabricated using wood truss interior and fiberglass on plywood exterior. The main spire is in the nagara style of the North Indian vaastu paddhati. The spire has a gold trim. Both the gOpuraMs have a brass kumbha kalaSa on top. They have been filled with naaraayaNa yantraM and other appropriate saamagri. In view of the Newfoundland weather, the practice of placing a dhvajaM (flag) on the main spire (as is common with the nagara style) will not be followed.

These gOpuraMs will be consecrated using a kumbha abhiShEkaM. The event has been planned for March 20 coinciding with phaalguNa Suddha ShaShThi-saptamii. It is being carried out by two priests coming here from Montreal. On March 19, there will be a vaastu Saanti. Wednesday, March 20 will be kumbhaabhiShEkaM. If weather poses an obstacle, the ceremony will be postponed to the following Sunday (daSamii-EkaadaSii).

The total cost of the project including fabrication, erection, incidentals, celebrations, etc., is expected to be nearly $100,000.

Further details will be made available by e-mail. Please mark your calendars and participate in the holy celebrations.
