Trouble Shooting Concrete

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (Newfoundland and Labrador Section) and the American Concrete
Institute (Atlantic Chapter) in cooperation with the CSCE National Office is pleased to present
a one-day workshop on Trouble Shooting Concrete Problems to be offered from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
on Thursday, April 6, 2000 at the Battery Hotel and Suites, St. John's, Newfoundland.

The animator for the event will be Mr. Stephen Gebler, PE.

Q.   WHY SHOULD I REGISTER?
A.    The course will help you solve common problems with concrete.  This includes handling problems involving freshly-mixed
and hardened concrete in the filed by addressing inadequacies in design and construction.

Sampling and appropriate testing techniques will be illustrated. Attendees will learn how the presenter solves problems,
and why that particular methodology was adopted. Participants benefit from sharing ideas and will be able to shed new
light on thier own concerns in this problem-solving workshop.

Q.   HOW WILL THE CONTENT WILL BE PRESENTED?
A.   The training techniques are designed to build confidence and competence. Informal and interactive, the workshop format
includes discussion and individual interaction with key concepts. A case study and examples will be included.

Q.   WHAT WILL I LEARN?
A.   Participants will be better able to conduct scientific investigations and to solve field concrete problems. The workshop will
provide industry documents for such investigations and will also illustrate how to interpret test results. Participants will
learn why concrete problems can result in "hardened concrete" problems.
