Research Statement: My current research pertains to 5G systems, blind signal identification (signal detection, separation, joint parameter estimation, and modulation and code classification), spatial modulation, physical layer security, resource allocation, cooperative communications, network coding, underwater communications, and wireless sensor networks.

Since 2014, I have also been working towards a practical solution for high speed optical communications for the optical transport network.

Currently, I hold a Research Chair position at Memorial.

Research Support: My research has beey supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Research and Development Corporation (RDC), Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC), Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS), Communications Research and Development Canada (CRC), Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), D-TA Systems, ThinkRF, Allen Vanguard, Agile Sensor Technologies, and Altera Corporation.
