Engineering Graduate Students' Society (EGSS) is a student organization, founded in 2002 with an aim to support the graduate students in the Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science of Memorial University of Newfoundland in academic and social capacity. It works closely with the university and faculty authorities and other student bodies in the best interest of the engineering graduate students. EGSS also arranges various activities like weekly coffee clubs, get together and trips to enhance social interactions among the students. This website provides information about EGSS and its activities.
Social Event Coordinator of the executive committee coordinates the efforts of other executives and presides over the meetings of EGSS. Usually this particular position is held by an ex-executives from previous year as the duties warrant experience. However, this is not a requirement for running for this position.
- to be responsible for the guidance of the affairs of the EGSS.
- to preside over all General Body Meetings (GBMs) and executive meetings.
- to abide by any resolution passed by a majority vote of the general body.
- to report on the general progress of the EGSS at the spring GBM.
- to assist the departmental representative with the organization of the graduate student seminars.
- to plan executive meetings in collaboration with the secretary.
- to act as a liaison between the Engineering faculty and the EGSS.
