The Microchip PIC 16F877 Microcontroller
This chip will be the heart of your project. It is an 8 bit CMOS flash microcontroller from Microchip Technology Inc. with the following features:
- 20 MHz clock cycle
- 8K 14 bit flash memory
- 368 Bytes of Data Memory
- 256 Bytes EEPROM data memory
- 3 timers
- 2 PWM (pulse-width modulation) modules
- a 10 bit multichannel ADC
- a USART
- a parallel port
The lecture which is on Wednesday, September 8th., will introduce the chip before you use it in the lab on Thursday, Sept. 9th. It will be a traditional chalk-on-bard lecture so there are no notes available beforehand. The documentation on the chip is available online from Microchip Technology, Inc.
