HAKONE

Hakone is a tourist area situated between Mt. Fuji and the Izu Peninsula. (Actually, I was hoping to see Mt. Fuji and take some pictures from there, but the weather was miserable). The area, about 10 km in diameter, is surrounded by very steep mountains. There are many hot springs, a good size lake - Ashinoko (noko=lake) - and a volcano (Owakudani) - see pictures with lots of smoke.
