The J.I. Clark Chair of Intelligent Systems for Operations in Harsh Environments was presented to Memorial University of Newfoundland in November 2000 by C-CORE on the occasion of C-CORE’s 25th anniversary celebrations.   The Chair honours the continuing achievement of Dr. J.I. (Jack) Clark, an accomplished contributor to the field of engineering who, during his time as C-CORE president (1984-1997), originated C-CORE’s  Harsh Environments Initiative and the Intelligent Systems Group.   The research activities of the J.I. Clark Chair are also supported by  INCO Limited and the European Space Agency Technology Transfer Programme.

The J.I. Clark Chair is held by  Dr Ray Gosine, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University.
