Cuirin graduated from McMaster University with a B.Eng.Society in Civil Engineering & Society in 2018. As someone who initially entered the field of Civil Engineering intending to pursue a Structural Engineering path, Cuirin took a liking to the Environmental and Water related courses. With this new found interest, he combined his love of the outdoors with education to finish the undergraduate level with a minor in Sustainability and thirst for extra knowledge in the Environmental Engineering field.

Starting in fall of 2018, Cuirin began his Graduate studies as an M.Eng student under the supervision of Dr. Baiyu (Helen) Zhang. With the completion of additional course work covering topics such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Environmental Systems Engineering, Risk Assessment, and Soil Remediation, Cuirin is currently studying the removal of Brominated Flame Retardant (BFR) compounds from soil media through means of dehalogenation and bio-surfactant aided soil washing. The rising concerns of emerging contaminants in the environment is vital to get under control to enjoy nature for all its worth and to provide future generations with the opportunity to love the outdoors.
