Hoda Tafvizi
B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. condidate

Hoda Tafvizi did her B.Sc. studies in Civil Engineering and followed Environmental Engineering as her M.Sc.in Sharif University, Tehran, Iran. Her thesis in wastewater treatment gave her insights in the biological treatment methods including submerged bio-filters for the treatment of dairy wastewater.

She became more familiar with environmental problems at work. Designing various water and wastewater treatment plants in different regions of Iran and middle-eastern countries assisted her with realizing special difficulties related to residential and industrial water and wastewater treatment processes and their operation.

Then she decided to pursue her education in Memorial University. She achieved excellent academic records with GPA of 4/4. Now she is conducting her thesis research in the methods of removal of Natural Organic Matter (NOM) from water resources in order to decrease disinfection by-products for small communities of Newfoundland.

Also, she involved in the project “ Affordable water filtration technology for rural communities in NL: A case study using source water from Sunnyside” funded by Harris Center in Memorial University.
