The CSCE Newfoundland and Labrador Section was delighted to host a one-day visit on Thursday, March 19, 1998 to St. John's, NF by Dr. Mel Hosain, P. Eng., FCSCE, President of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering.

Dr.  Hosain visited the MUN Faculty of Engineering and spoke to the civil engineering students in terms 5 and 8 about "Effective Conference Presentations".  This presentation was attended by approximately 60 students, faculty, and engineers.

Later that evening, Dr. Mel Hosain gave a 45 minute presentation on the Construction of Composite Bridges in the Prairies.  Dr. Hosain also spoke about the membership benefits of CSCE, and gave a short presentation about the Confederation bridge, which links P.E.I. to New Brunswick.  This presentation was attended by approximately 35 students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, and engineers.
