Biography
Dr. Mohsin Jamil is an Associate
Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. His research
interests center on control system techniques, with a primary focus
on power electronic converters for smart grids, hybrid renewable
energy systems, and mechatronic systems. He is also involved in
multidisciplinary areas such as system identification, biomedical
engineering, and communication systems, where he applies artificial
intelligence-based control techniques.
Dr. Jamil has published over 150 research articles, two books, and
three book chapters, and has presented his work at numerous national
and international conferences. He has served on organizing, program,
and scientific committees for prestigious international conferences.
His research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering
Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Mitacs, and Memorial
University’s Seed, Bridge, and Multidisciplinary Funds.
In addition to his research, Dr. Jamil is an Associate Editor for
IEEE Access, the IEEE Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer
Engineering, and Energies. From 2016 to 2019, he was part of the
Department of Electrical Engineering at the Islamic University of
Madinah, Saudi Arabia, and from 2012 to 2016, he worked in the
Robotics Department at the National University of Sciences and
Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. He has received numerous
awards and grants, including the prestigious NSERC Discovery Grant
as an Established Researcher for 2024-2029, totaling $195,000 over
five years.
