ABOUT US
FIVE for South Sudan Inc.
"Fostering Independence and Village Education (FIVE) for South Sudan" is a Non-Profit Corporation (pending) in Canada founded in early 2013. It was established to facilitate development projects in South Sudan, of which the first and principal cause is the Dendor School Project. The Directors of the company are Dr. Stephen Bruneau, John Chol and Ian Bruneau. Legal support has been provided by Kenneth Templeton Q.C.. and a host of other associates provide business, communication, school, fundraising and moral support. Many of the people involved in the project are also associated with St. David's Presbyterian Church in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. The Dendor School Project is supported by St. David's as a part of its interest in international development.
The Dendor School Project
A multi-year school development project in Nyirol County, Jonglei State, South Sudan. The small village of Dendor and many surrounding rural villages are not presently served by any formal education system. This is the ancestral homeland of the Project Coordinator, John Chol, for whome the development of a school has been a life-long dream. In the first instance the project involves obtaining appropriate licences and registration, establishing the conditions in the home village, identifying key people as trustees, teachers, supporters and to begin with basic lessons for children in grades 1-4. Following from this the plan is to construct permanent infrastructure so as to support instruction in grades 1-7 with residences for teachers, a dining hall, a clinic and other supporting facilities.
