    Call for Nominations: Canadian Society for Civil Engineering Memorial Student Chapter (CSCE-MUN) Executive Positions
    The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering Memorial Student Chapter (CSCE-MUN) was founded in 2012 with an aim to strengthen the bond between undergraduate and graduate civil engineering students, and to enhance networking between students and civil professions in academia and industries in and outside of Memorial University. The chapter works closely with the CSCE NL section (chaired by Dr. Bing Chen) and the national office, hosting and facilitating various activities such as The Popsiclestick Bridge Building Competition, Capstone Design Competition, national lecture tours, information sessions and seminars. This year, the CSCE-MUN president will join the newly launched Atlantic Region Chapter Leaders Council representing MUN and interact with Chapter leaders in other universities and plan multi-chapter events. CSCE-MUN Executive members will have the chance to join the 2014 CSCE National Student Chapter Leaders Workshop in Halifax as Memorial representatives and meet with Chapter representatives across Canada. CSCE-MUN is seeking nominations for positions in the executive committee: President (1), Vice President (1), Secretary (1), Treasurer (1), Publicity Officers (2), and Student Representatives (2).
    Major duties of the CSCE-MUN executives are but not limited to:
    1. President(1)
      • - Responsible for the operations of the chapter
      • - Atlantic Region Chapter Leaders Council member, Memorial representative
      • - Chair regular executive committee meetings
      • - Liaison between Chapter and faculty advisor/CSCE NL section/other chapters and societies
      • - Attend CSCE NL section executive meetings as Student Chapter representative, update Chapter business
    2. Vice President (1)
      • - Assist president in all matters regarding smooth running of activities
      • - Take president’s responsibility when he/she is absent
    3. Secretary (1)
      • - Keep records of chapter events/progress
      • - Record meeting minutes and present them for approval in the following meeting
      • - In charge of Chapter email account and maintain correspondence of CSCE-MUN
      • - Maintain an up-to-date list of the membership
    4. Treasurer (1)
      • - Responsible for the financial business of the chapter (e.g., budgets of event; keep accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions)
      • - In charge of Chapter bank account
      • - Prepare the annual financial statement to the CSCE Student Affairs
    5. Publicity officers (general publicity and website maintenance) (2)
      • - Maintain up-to-date CSCE-MUN website
      • - Advertise CSCE events, including making posters and other promotional materials
    6. Student representatives (undergraduate and graduate) (2)
        - Liaison between undergraduate/graduate students and CSCE-MUN
      • - Promote CSCE student membership
      • - Facilitate chapter events

    Nominations for these positions will be accepted from March 12 to March 31, 2014. Positions are run on one-year term commencing April, 2014.
    Eligibility:
    1. Applicants must be part-time or full-time civil engineering undergraduate (including work term) or graduate students at Memorial University
    2. Applicants must be a registered CSCE student member (student membership online registration: http://csce.ca/membership/edi/)

    Executive members will be selected by the current committee and CSCE Faculty/Student advisor Dr. Helen Zhang. Results will be announced in April, 2014. Interested candidates are required to sign and complete the application form and E-mail the scanned copy of the filled form and an up-to-date resume/CV to csce@mun.ca.
