Note: if you see symbols like ³ or
Þ in various places, then the Symbol or WP MathA font is not installed
on your computer. The translation is:
- Find all roots (including any non-real roots) of the equation
x3 -
2x2 + x - 2
= 0
- For the fourth degree polynomial
f (x) =
x4 -
6x3 + 8x2 + 6x
- 9
- use either synthetic division or the remainder
theorem to show that x = 1 is a zero of
f (x);
- use either synthetic division or the remainder
theorem to show that
x = -1 is a zero of
f (x);
- It then follows that f (x) =
(x2 - 1)
g(x), where g(x) is a
quadratic function of x. Use long division to find
g(x).
- Hence find the other two zeros of f (x).
- Sketch the graph of f (x).
Indicate the locations of all axis intercepts on your graph.
