You may need a simple scientific calculator for all quizzes,
the mid term test and the final examination.
The following features are prohibited:
- text storage
- programs
- graphics
- QWERTY keyboard input
- symbolic algebra
- numerical integration or differentiation
- communication with other devices
Calculators that have a calculus button similar to
are prohibited.
Do not bring such calculators to quizzes, the mid term test
or the final examination.
Doing so may constitute an act of academic misconduct, for
which the penalties can be severe.
If you wish to receive an exemption for your calculator, then
please see Dr. George at least three days in advance of any quiz, test
or examination.
Some calculators that possess the forbidden calculus button
do not provide an unfair advantage
in the evaluations and might be permitted,
on a case-by-case basis, but only with advance notice.
The previously-forbidden calculators that are now permitted are:
- Casio fx991ES Plus
- Casio fx991ES Plus C
- Casio fx991MS
- Sharp EL-520X
- TI 36X Pro
