Plagiarism

Do you know that you may be committing plagiarism without realizing it?

Although most students understand that buying a paper online or copying another student’s work is plagiarism, many do not fully understand the full spectrum of actions that are also considered plagiarism. Plagiarism is so much more than copying another student’s work or cutting and pasting content from the internet without proper citation.  Plagiarism is a serious academic offense and whether it occurs intentionally or unintentionally, the repercussions can be severe.   As a student, it is your responsibility to learn what constitutes plagiarism and to always err on the side of caution when it comes to incorporating another individual’s work and/or ideas into your own papers and presentations.

Try taking the plagiarism quiz to test your knowledge of what actions constitute plagiarism.  For more information on the topic, including links to how MUN handles incidence of academic misconduct, please consult the University Writing Centre in addition to the information provided on this site.
