B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Eng., PhD Candidate, E.I.T.

Xudong Ye received his bachelor’s degrees in environmental Science from Liaoning University in China, 2012, first master degree in environmental systems engineering and management from Memorial University of Newfoundland, 2014, and second master degree in civil engineering in Memorial University, 2017. In 2017, he started his Ph.D program at Memorial University of Newfoundland in civil engineering-environmental engineering.

His research areas currently focus on following areas:

(1) To develop a new hybrid particle swarm optimization version (HPSO) method to deal with non-linear problems with both continuous and discrete variables; to integrate HPSO with MAS into a new multi-agent based hybrid particle swarm optimization (MAHPSO) approach to enhance the solution convergence; and to Exam the practicability and efficiency of the proposed approach through wastewater treatment network planning case study simplified in Newfoundland and Labrador from the real system in the city of St. John’s, and comparison with genetic algorithm (GA) and HPSO method;

(2) To develop a new simulation-based multi-agent particle swarm optimization (SA-PSO) approach to facilitate the dual-level environmental decision making; and to apply the proposed approach for a hypothetical offshore oil spill case in North Atlantic Ocean to test its feasibility and capability along with a competition with the traditional short distance selection (SDS) method.

(3) To develop a human factor based quantitative decision making system for offshore oil spill accidents.
